Botanical Dye

 Nuno Felted tunic dress with removable wool gauze sleeves.  Botanical printed with eucalyptus and over-dyed with eucalyptus dye bath. This piece will be in the Art of Fashion exhibit at the Blue Lune Gallery in Roseville, CA from June 5th- July 11th, 2015




 Nuno Felted Vest (top) & Nuno Felted Jacket (middle bottom) These garments and the fabric are created as one for seamless one of a kind wearable art. Nuno felting is the process of working 100% superfine merino wool into silk fabric creating a new fabric in the process.
Both are finished with Eucalyptus Botanical Print and over-dye.

  1. Your work is beautiful. I have been dyeing silk scarfs using the "bundle" technique but the leaves aren't as pronounced as yours are. I have followed India Flint but never taken a class. I think I'm missing a step. Do you let your fabric dry outside? Any suggestions appreciated.

    1. Thank you Diane! Are you using a mordent? I dip my leaves(etc) into iron water while the water is still warm before placing onto the fabric. I also give the fabric a light spray with heavily diluted vinegar. I dry inside or out depending on the weather but never in directly sunlight. I hope that helps! Keep experimenting.. it's always a surprise unwrapping the bundles!
